Sesjon om miljø og eiendomsrett, World Congress of Environmental History 2009
“Dear all,
I want to put together a session for the First World Congress of Environmental History (Copenhagen, Denmark, August 4-8, 2009) on the environment and property rights. As new user groups and new ways of using the environment develop, established customs and rights of prescription are often challenged. I am particularly interested in papers addressing issues such as: the tensions created by construction of private buildings on public land such as national parks; intellectual property rights and natural resources, such as the patenting of genetic material from “naturally-occurring” species; and conflicts over who owns environmental resources such as groundwater or air. My own paper will discuss the sometimes conflicting, sometimes complementary relationship between private leisure cabin ownership and the traditional public access to all land in Norway.
Abstracts should have between 2000 and 3000 characters (incl. spaces) and should contain up to 5 bibliographic references. In addition, I need a 1-page CV.
If you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible. I would need a full abstract by March 23rd. I will be at ASEH in Boise, so feel free to contact me there if you are going.
