Miljøhistorie i Norge

Rapport fra First International Seasonal Homes and Amenity Migration Workshop, Trondheim, mars 2006

Finn Arne Jørgensen deltok på First International Seasonal Homes and Amenity Migration Workshop som ble arrangert av Senter for Bygdeforskning i Trondheim, 26. – 28. mars 2008. Hensikten med denne workshopen var å presentere og diskutere artikkelutkast med forskere fra andre fagmiljøer, nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Alle artikkelutkastene handlet om hytter og fritidsboliger.

Workshopen hadde deltakere fra Senter for Bygdeforskning, Institutt for tverrfaglige kulturstudier, Institutt for geografi, Institutt for byggekunst, prosjektering og forvaltning og Institutt for sosiologi og statsvitenskap (alle NTNU), University of Wisconsin-Madison og University of Madison-Oshkosh, Oregon State University, Cornell University (alle USA), samt Swansea University (Storbritannia), Statens institutt for forbruksforskning (Oslo) og Nordregio (Stockholm).

Gjennom tre dager hadde vi to forelesninger av geografene Keith Halfacree (Swansea) og Nina Gunnerud Berg (geografi, NTNU) i tillegg til at vi gikk gjennom ti artikkelutkast. Diskusjonene som fulgte var svært gode og viste tydelig at det var mange felles møtepunkter på tvers av faggrensene. De ulike forfatterne brukte tilnærminger som diskursanalyse, statistikk, GIS, historiske kildestudier, deltakende observasjon, intervjuer, fotografi, osv. for å studere fritidsboliger som fenomen.

• Finn Arne Jørgensen – Are you really in the wild when you have an espresso machine in your cabin?
• Bjørn Egil Flø – What gives them the right? Profiteers and losers and sense of justice in the debate of second home villages
• Jon Moxnes Steineke – The impact of seasonal homes on local communities: a first comparative assessment of the Nordic countries

Om forfatteren

Finn Arne Jørgensen er grunnlegger av og redaktør for nettsiden Miljøhistorie i Norge. Til daglig jobber han som postdoktor ved Institutt for tverrfaglige kulturstudier, NTNU, hvor han forsker på historien til den norske hyttekulturen. Doktoravhandlingen hans omhandlet utviklingen av teknologiske og politiske infrastrukturer for håndtering av tom drikkevareemballasje.
